cool movie stuff
A Real Pain - Highly recommend! Kieran Culkin does steal the show and had one of the realest award show moments in recent memory.
Self Reliance - Really fun and very surreal.
cool book stuff
Maaaaan, I have too many books that I want to read. I decided to dive headlong into it (aka severe lean) and check out multiple books at once. I'm reading three right now and I already want to start another. I'm not bored, mind you, I'm just really wanting to consume the books. Is it compartmentalizing? Can I be more accepting of the fact that I will read the books when I have time to read the books? And is it even more extreme acceptance knowing that I most likely will never read all the books I want to read? Wait... this was supposed to be about books, wasn't it?
Anyway, here are some reads I recently finished:
Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain - looking forward to reading James by Percival Everett
Syllabus by Lynda Barry - Highly recommend
Letter From The Birmingham Jail, Martin Luther King Jr. - Remember, MLK Jr. was one of the most hated men in America when he was assassinated.
This Is The Story of A Happy Marriage by Ann Patchett - Delightful and incredibly well-written short stories.
farewells
We lost some icons and are living in some unprecedented times - RIP Roy Ayers, RIP Gene Hackman, RIP Democracy... probably....
Sorry to bring the mood down. Here's something that always lifts my spirits.
